Geospatial Data Vis: ArcGIS and QGIS Online

A great deal of research involves the use of geospatial information, that is information related to specific geographic locations on Earth. This session will introduce and briefly discuss using GIS software to explore geospatial data. We will take a quick look at the ArcGIS commercial program and the QGIS free, open-source software tool. We will quickly view examples of how these programs can be used to create, edit, analyze, visualize, and publish geospatial information. Access/installation instructions and a dataset will be provided ahead of time for those interested in following along or exploring afterward.
